Starting from our first interaction we were excited to have you on-board. According to Google, love is ‘the strong feeling of affection, a great interest and pleasure in something’ – we felt that with, and for you from the onset.

I remember our discussion prior to our engagement shoot. I told you that I am not fond of being photographed. You laughed showing your beautiful smile and told me to relax and to just be. You jumped through hoops to make the shoot at OR Tambo happen – you listened to us and acknowledged our passion for travel – thank you. The video is BEAUTIFUL!

Fast forward to our wedding – you and Marsonè were the perfect team. We were relaxed yet energised by your enthusiasm and creativity. You managed (beautifully) to snap two brides getting ready for one of the most important ‘dates’ of their lives. You captured it charmingly.

Looking at the images it seems as if you were present at more than one place at a given time. Your professionalism and personable manner were commented on by many of our guests.

We need to thank you, but where to begin – those two words will never be enough. You feel like family – you witnessed an intimate moment in time and because of your passion and expertise we have exceptional and everlasting mementos of our union.

Finding a good wedding photographer can be stressful. Getting someone who can accurately capture the essence of one’s relationship is a rare thing. We are fortunate to call Niel, who just happens to be the most amazing photographer in the world, our close friend. It was therefore an easy decision to book him to shoot our wedding.

We have seen some of his work previously, and so knew that he was a talented photographer. What really blew us away however, was his absolute professionalism, passion and dedication to the shoot. His skill in making the best of fading sunlight on a late afternoon in woodland is a wonder.

He is also very understanding, and knew that we didn’t want to keep the guests waiting outside too long. He managed to give us the most stunning photos on a tight time schedule, and his jovial manner in dealing with all the family had everyone genuinely smiling for all the photos.

In addition, he worked tirelessly the entire night, capturing the dinner, party and after-party. He worked long after he was officially off-duty, and caught memories that we will treasure forever.

Overall, his enthusiasm, relaxing approach, understanding of family dynamics, tirelessness and professionalism were truly fantastic, and we couldn’t have asked for a better photographer.

Honestly if I think back to the wedding there’s a few emotional experiences that were special because of the family element, but of all the providers I can only sing your praises! You made me feel so comfortable and relaxed as a bride.

Now days, a part of getting ready and preparing to walk down the isle involves the pictures with the bridesmaids in gowns… This was almost awkward for me because of the fit of the gown (yes it flew open once or twice), but you never reacted – your calmness was a delight and I would recommend you to anyone anytime, any day!

Also, now that we’ve seen some family members after the wedding and coming back from honeymoon, I’ve heard 3 couples say you were excellent! This speaks to your professional  conduct and friendliness. Lastly, a special thanks for making the best of the cold and rainy weather.

Not only is Daniel an exceptional artist, he is a wonderful, warm person too!

I spent a long time looking for a wedding photogtapher, but when I stumbled across Daniel’s portfolio, I was blown away by the originality of his pictures, as well as the unique way in which he captures every intimate emotion with such finesse. Once we got chatting, I was sold! Daniel will go to any length to make sure the bridal couple is completely happy. Went above and beyond. He even helped lit the candles just so he could get the photos of the lit candles at the reception.

From my first contact with Daniel for a pre-wed and proposal shoot in S.Africa, he has been absolutely helpful and goes beyond his means to cater to our request and expectations. I don’t have to say anything about the photos Daniel took. Our wedding photos are out of this world. And everyone can see that.
But what people can’t see looking at these photos is that the same quality and professionalism that everyone can see on photos is happening behind the camera.

It is shame that people who see our photos will never know how awesome is that person who took these photos.

Daniel constantly made us laugh. Before the wedding I was worried that I don’t know what to do in front of the camera but Daniel was brilliant guiding us! And even though we had a time limit and tight schedule I didn’t feel rushed at any point on my wedding day. “Sometimes there is no next time. No second chance. No time out. It is now or never”

I am all head and Jeanette is all hart. She the extrovert that never says no for a photo opportunity or social media, I on the other hand prefer to live my life privately with moments captured in my memory.

I am a person for the detail, fussy and a bit OCD and she the go with the flow, all smiles and pleasing. And so with this challenge at hand Jeanette set out to find that photographer/artist that would tick all of the boxes. Over a coffee in the good old days before lockdown (for which I was late) I rushed into what was Bootleggers, bit flustered and still hype from my meeting that overran. Jeanette was having coffee with Daniel already. I just fell into the conversation and within minutes I felt very comfortable. There was just that chemistry, which to Jeanette and I was the deciding factor if we were deadlocked on who to pick.

We had to postpone our Nuptials three times – thank you C19; but Daniel stuck with us, and we with him because of that chemistry. (Only later did we find out about all his awards and accolades.)

On our big day he was present, but not there. That made such a difference as one could just be. Be yourself, be in the moment and actually experience your own wedding. Never did it feel like he was intruding or interrupting the flow he just blended in seamlessly. By then he had gotten to know us which also made  us feel at ease, never did it feel like  photoshoot or pictures force posed like models. His calm and engaging demeanor made  those “mandatory” pictures a fun event without detracting from US………………and when we were alone with just him it always felt like we could breath, exhale, soak in that one day, a minute at a time whilst he was working his magic.

It has now been 11 days since our BIG day and whilst he is looking us look fab working away in his studio we cant wait to see the final product. We know it will be memories captured to be remembered and shared –  that will be timeless and part of our perfect day.

Daniel West, wow, where do we begin… An absolutely brilliant photographer is an understatement. He is an artist and so incredibly passionate about he’s work. Daniel is one of the best photographers I’ve ever met. He helped me with the planning of my trip for the duration of the shoot (transportation, accommodation, etc). Our shoot was delayed due to Covid and 2 years later, we were finally able to do our safari shoot and I was very happy with the photos! Daniel did an absolutely amazing job at capturing my wedding day. I am blown away by the emotion he managed to document with his pictures… My husband and I are in awe of his work and his imagination when it came to our photoshoot. He was professional, considerate and funny too! He made my husband and I feel comfortable during our photoshoot (it was our very first photoshoot together).

We knew from the moment we saw Daniel’s work that he was going to be our wedding photographer, no doubt.

The thing I love most about Daniel and his work is the natural feel that comes with it. He did not need to add unicorns to our background for our pictures to be magical, all it took was his keen eye and his camera.
